Dr Elliot Cohen is a Chartered Psychologist, Chartered Scientist and Psychotherapist. He is a senior lecturer for BA(Hons) Psychology & Society, MA in Interdisciplinary Psychology, and was recently appointed as the director of the ‘Institute for Spirituality, Religion & Public Life’ at Leeds Beckett University.
He has studied and practiced meditation for over 20 years in several different spiritual traditions and is an authorised practitioner of Buddhist Psychotherapy and teacher of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (Dhamma Nikethanaya Buddhist Academy).
He formerly worked as a Psychotherapist in both the NHS and private practice, and was the founder and director of the Manchester Academy for Transpersonal Studies 2006-2012.
He recently developed and the pioneered the ‘Hold and Release Practice’ (in 2012), which potently and effectively introduces new meditators to the relationship between posture, breath and mind.
