I first became curious about yoga as a child thanks to an old yoga book I found at home. During my late teens and early 20’s I muddled my way through a self-taught practice and numerous DVD’s before attending Matt Ryan’s Sunday classes where I was bitten by the Ashtanga bug.
My practice flourished from a once a week class to a dedicated daily practice. I realised how valuable a good teacher is and how much this comprehensive system of breath and movement can influence so many aspects of life.
I began teaching yoga by sharing the practice with friends in the local park. In 2012, I completed teacher training with David Swenson and I am continuing further training under the guidance of Matt Ryan and Kirsten Robertson. I have also had the pleasure of studying with Matthew Sweeney, Tim Feldman and David Williams. I like to teach in the way I approach my own practice, with a balance of discipline, good humour and an open mind.
Yoga can be exciting and sometimes frustrating. It’s a great tool for gaining a bit of clarity and exploring life!
Marie Harris will be teaching the Yoga for Sports module on the Touchstone Yoga course.
